GCSE PE provides pupils with a broad, coherent, practical and inspiring programme where pupils feel motivated and challenged by the subject and enable them to make informed decisions about further learning opportunities and career pathways. The course aims to equip students with the knowledge, understanding, skills and values to develop and maintain their performance in physical activities and understand the benefits to health, fitness and well-being.

Course description

There is an emphasis on practical activity and you will be expected to participate fully in a wide range of sporting activities. You will be formally assessed in 3 different sporting activities, either as a performer or as a coach. Theoretical aspects of the course will predominantly be classroom based, although we aim to use practical scenarios as much as possible. You will develop an understanding of what a healthy and active lifestyle consists of and the physiology of a healthy and active body. You will complete a piece of coursework that focuses on Analysis of Performance; demonstrating your theoretical and tactical knowledge of a sporting activity of your choice.
