In addition to the wide variety of extra-curricular opportunities on offer at AHS, students from all year groups also take part in experience-based Enrichment Days, which see teachers ‘take learning beyond the curriculum’ and deliver lessons that help broaden and develop our students’ knowledge and understanding in a variety of areas. These collapsed timetable days, provide further opportunities for students to learn, develop and challenge themselves, as evidenced by poetry workshops with Gez Walsh (the ‘potty poet’), field trips to Flamborough Head and Masham, an annual careers fayre with local businesses and talks from Holocaust survivors.

All of our Enrichment Days are mapped against social, moral, spiritual and cultural objectives and further emphasise our commitment to developing the whole person. We believe this focus on reflection, challenge, inspiration and enjoyment is what makes these events so unique and gratifying for both students and staff.

We are passionate about providing your child with a wide variety of learning opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom and view extra-curricular as an area where we, as a school community, excel.
