Deciding where to study and how to apply

Deciding on where to study can be a really difficult decision. It is important to visit the Post-16 providers that you are seriously considering to get a 'feel' for your potential new environment. In order to find out where you are interested in studying make the most of the following opportunities:

Sixth Form Open Evenings

Visit the Sixth Form Open Evenings in November. Here you will know if you can see yourself being happy and cared for in your potential new Sixth Form community. Our Sixth Form Open Evening date is Monday the 7th of November 2016. During this evening you can meet all of the members of the Sixth Form Team, subject staff, form tutors and current students as well as hearing key information. There will be opportunity to have an informal conversation about possible subject combinations and any other questions answered.

Taster days

Visit the Post-16 providers and try out the subject lessons that you are interested in studying. There are two days in January 2017 when you can come to visit us, either on Tuesday the 17th or Thursday the 19th. During the day you will engage in actual sixth form lessons with Year 12 students, take part in our sixth form tutor programme, meet subject staff and the student leaders over lunch before having an individual meeting with a member of the Sixth Form Team to discuss your course combinations. However, make sure you book your place on the days in advance by downloading the 'taster day application' and sending it into us ASAP. Once we have received your application we will get in touch to confirm your place .

Time to apply

When you have made the decision to join us and you are happy with your subject combination then download a 'sixth form application' and send it to us either via the post or email (sixthform@archbishopholgates.org). Again, once we have received your application we will write to you to confirm your course choices and make a conditional offer subject to you meeting our entry requirements.

Receiving your offer

Once you have received your conditional offer, its time to focus on doing your best in your GCSE exams. If you decide to change your mind about your course combinations, just get in touch and we will be able to get this resolved for you.

Results Day

Enjoy your long summer holiday before picking up your results from your school in August. After collecting your results please come and see us so that we can welcome you into our Sixth Form community and give you an induction pack.

Welcome to Sixth Form

Arrive on your first day in Sixth Form, which we hope will be the start of a fantastic two years with us!
