Biology Fieldtrip to Boggle Hole
Mr Stone, Mrs Skidmore and Mr Evans took the Year 12 Biologists to Boggle Hole, Robin Hoods Bay for five days. The aim of the trip was to gain a better understanding of fieldwork techniques used in ecology. They included sand dune profiles, line transects, mark release recapture, quadrant analysis, biological indicator species of streams and zonations, not to mention succession – Mr Stone! We also managed to fit in a few games of rounders, a beach fire and a birthday party for Jake. The weather was a typical British July (wet and warm!). This was the first ecology trip and we hope to run it again next year. As many Year 12s recommended – ecology is fun!

Sixth Form Sports Day
Due to the wonderful British summertime weather, our Sixth Form Sports Day has had to be postponed until Monday 16 July 2012.

Progression Information
This week our form tutors are continuing to explore progression opportunities for our Sixth Formers by getting them logged onto UCAS Track, enrolling on the Apprenticeship website and exploring career opportunities using the qualifications they are hoping to gain at the end of their time with us.

This is all an integral part of our student programme to assist and develop our students’ skills - actively encouraging them to take ownership of their future whilst supporting them along the way.
