Following the record breaking successes of last week’s sixth form results that place the school in the top 10% of schools nationally for student achievement with almost half the entries at A and A* or equivalent, Archbishop Holgate’s students are once again celebrating results that exceed the expected performance of the top 25% of similar schools nationally.

Headteacher Andrew Daly says “Building on our excellent Sixth Form results last week I am delighted to say that our Year 11 students have also performed exceptionally well with 74% gaining A*-C in Maths and English which is the highest the school has ever achieved. Indeed 23% of the year group earnt 5 A* and A grades, which they should be extremely proud of. We also look forward to the Government releasing the new Progress 8 score for this cohort which should be extremely impressive. I would like to thank all our staff, our students and their parents for their hard work and commitment to the school, which has rightly been rewarded with excellent grades for themselves but also record results for the school.”

Alexis Green-Harding Deputy Head says “These results are a testament to all the hard work and dedication of both Staff and students. As the government raises the bar on GCSE standards it is really pleasing to see our students holding their own once again.”

Miss Francesca De Lashley, Director of Sixth Form says “With our students reaping the rewards of their hard work and commitment, the majority will be looking forward to starting on their AS levels or Level 3 BTECs very soon.  We are very excited and privileged to be welcoming so many ambitious and hard-working students back into our outstanding Sixth Form.  We look forward to supporting them in the next steps of their academic career.  If you are interested in joining our Sixth Form we have limited places available for September and any students wishing to join our outstanding Sixth form is strongly advised to contact us today by phoning 01904 411341, or emailing sixthform@archbishopholgates.org.  For further information on the excellent opportunities available at our Sixth Form, visit our website www.archbishopholgates.org/sixthform”.

Miss Nicol Head of Year 11 said “I am extremely proud of the results that Year 11 have achieved for themselves this year. They are a true reflection of the hard work, dedication and positive work ethic which the students have shown throughout their time at school. As well as producing record breaking results they have consistently shown themselves to be excellent young people, regularly contributing to the wider school community through charity fundraising, sports, drama and volunteering. The relationships which they have built with the staff are outstanding and the work they have put in together has really paid off.  I am certain that they would wish me to thank all of the staff on their behalf.  I can imagine some very bright futures indeed for this very special group of students. Watching them grow over the last 5 years has been an absolute privilege and to see them collect such wonderful results today is a fitting end to this stage of their education.”

Mr. Daly, Head Teacher said “I would like to congratulate our students on their achievements this morning and look forward to welcoming the vast majority back to continue their studies at our Sixth Form. For the staff it is a great privilege to be part of an outstanding school and to know we’ve made a real difference in the lives of these young people.  On a day like this academic results are important, but we believe that our students leave Archbishop Holgate’s with much more. Underpinned by our commitment to ‘Values, Care and Achievement’ our students are well rounded young people ready to make positive contributions to the communities they serve and to have a rich and fulfilling life in the world beyond school. We wish all our student the best of luck for the future.
